Modifications

While the Mustang platform is a great starting point for a drift car, there are many things that can be done to transform a stock pony into a tire-shredding track machine. However, a Mustang that is a street/track car will likely need different mods than a full on drift car. This is why we break it down into three different stages of modification. This section of FMC Drift is designed to show the most "Recommended Modifications" for each Stage that can be made to each generation Mustang. Please keep in mind that these are modifications and parts that are commonly used and are known to work, not the ONLY parts that will work. Be creative!
STAGE 1
In this introductory stage, the car is usually used as a street car that will see some track time. As the car will see mostly street tire, the modfications need to improve track performance without taking a toll on daily driving on the street. As a result, the modifications are more mild, and are more budget friendly.
STAGE 2
A stage two setup is a more balanced setup for the street and track. This allows for a car that performs well in both areas, without the sacrifices that are needed with a full on track car. Some of the modifications are budget friendly, while others are more expensive.
STAGE 3
When it's time to progress, and your experience and budget allows, it's time to take a leap to stage 3. While the car will lose most of it's creature comforts and be rough on the street, it will perform like a champion on the track, and that's all that matters.
